What to know before using the data

  • Index versus dashboards. The SDG Index and goal scores use globally comparable indicators. G7 dashboards also use OECD-only indicators (marked † on goal pages), so a goal can look strong in the score and weak in the colour.
  • Backdated scores. Index and goal scores for past years are recalculated with 2026 indicators and methods, carrying data forward where years are missing. They differ from scores in earlier editions of the report.
  • Latest year varies. Each indicator’s latest value has its own year, shown in tooltips and tables. Some are many years old.
  • Regional averages on this site are unweighted means of countries computed from the backdated index, not population-weighted.
